North American Axemen's News
The North American Axemen's News (NAAN) was a magazine published by Arden Cogar Jr. in the 90's and early 2000's. Periodically, articles from the NAAN will be added to Lumberjack Planet for new readers to enjoy. Arden has shared some information about his former publication:
"I started the North American Axemen’s News during the Fall of 1993. The idea behind the NAAN was to provide competitors with a handbook that had information about all the contests in North America. It was originally similar to the New Zealand’s Axemen’s News. But over time, and because of input from others, the NAAN evolved into more of a magazine about the sport than a recitation of shows, results, and records. From memory, I published the NAAN for 7 or 8 years. The reason I stopped is because I simply ran out of time. Between my children, my career, and my own needs to train for the sport – there simply wasn’t enough hours left in the day. The NAAN was a labor of love. I invested over 150 hours each year into putting it together. Then that amount of time again in selling them to competitors and fans at major events. In hindsight, I never made a profit off its publication – but that’s not the reason I did it."
